This jewel spider has a subtle sprinkling of sparkles in its abdomen because it has a diet of glitter and moonbeams. Although leggy and therefore creepy, it is also incredibly beautiful and a prized pet as a result! Just keep it well fed and it won't come creeping toward you with bad intent.
It is made of Effetre (aka "soft") glass via the lampworking technique - sculpted from molten glass rods, over an oxy-propane torch. Afterward, it has been annealed in a digitally-controlled kiln, so is fully stabilized and when properly cared for, should last several human lifetimes (much longer than a live spider - and far less dangerous!)
Basement Creeper Jewel Spider
- 2.75 inches long, 1.5 inches wide, 1 inches tall
Made from Moretti/Effetre glass, with dichroic accent (abdomen.)
- Signed and dated 2022 on underside of body, between front legs.
- All of my sculptures are individually hand-made by me, Wesley Fleming, by melting glass rods over a torch and then properly annealed in a digitally-controlled kiln to remove any stress from the making process.
