Clear Optical Snake Head
This glass Clear Optical Snake HEAD is simultaneously incredibly lifelike and completely fantastictical! It has a exciting surface texture and interesting optical effects, a glare in its eye, and has nice details just like all of my work ;-)
 
I found some timber rattlesnakes while hiking two summers ago and a copperhead last spring, along with numerous milksnakes, blacksnakes and garter snakes in between and since. Lots of inspiration to make these danger noodles! They're crazy hard to make, too - they get stressed out and explode from cooling down too quickly, much worse bite than a live snake :-| BUT don't worry, these are safely annealed (de-stressed) and will hold their shape unless you accidentally drop them!

It is made of Effetre (aka "soft") glass via the lampworking technique - sculpted from molten glass rods, over an oxy-propane torch. Afterward, it has been annealed in a digitally-controlled kiln, so is fully stabilized and when properly cared for, should last several human lifetimes (much longer than a live salamander!)
